Jonathan Wallis, a company known for its surveying expertise, will open the new business in early September, adding residential sales and lettings to its established surveying and rural property services.
The estate agency will operate from the company’s offices at 24 The Bank, Barnard Castle.
Victoria Hartley, a chartered surveyor at Jonathan Wallis, said: “Our surveying background gives us the knowledge and experience to advise clients on every type of property, whether it’s a two-bedroom terraced house in the centre of town or a substantial rural estate.
“That wider expertise means we can help clients navigate more complex issues and provide informed advice throughout the letting or buying and selling process.”
Ms Hartley has worked at Jonathan Wallis for three years and previously worked alongside Jonathan. Her experience in residential agency has contributed to the development of the new service.
She worked with colleague Joanna Herbert, who brings nine years of estate agency experience.
Ms Herbert said: “Barnard Castle is a fantastic property market because it’s incredibly varied.

Jonathan Wallis’ decision to expand into residential sales came in response to growing demand from existing clients, many of whom had already sought advice on selling their homes.
The team opted for a September launch to give time to fully prepare branding, marketing, operations, and customer service.
Jonathan Wallis will continue offering its established range of surveying and rural property services alongside the new estate agency, promising clients a seamless, professional service.
The business is based beside Barnard Castle’s “iconic” red telephone box.
As part of the expansion, the company is recruiting a sales and lettings negotiator to join the growing team.
The new hire will support the launch and play a key role in delivering the firm’s client-focused service.
