Theakston’s Brewery, based in Masham, has introduced Special Reserve, a 6.5% ABV ale now available in Morrisons stores across the UK, making it the strongest ale in Theakston’s range.
Simon Theakston, chairman of T&R Theakston, said: “As a brewery with almost 200 years of experience crafting legendary beers, we pride ourselves on staying true to our heritage while creating beers that people want to drink.
“Modern consumers are returning to classic styles of British ale ones which match their higher ABV value with distinctive rich and smooth flavour profiles
“And so it felt the right time to create something unique for our off-trade customers with Special Reserve, a drink that celebrates both the high quality ingredients we use and the skills of our brewers in every sip.”
Brewed in Masham with fresh Fuggle hops, Special Reserve is a full-bodied, rounded ale with subtle fruity notes.
It will go on sale in Waitrose stores from November.
Theakston’s recommends serving the beer with strong cheeses, including Blue Wensleydale.
Special Reserve is the latest Theakston’s product to win new retailer listings.
Earlier this year, the independent family-run brewery secured more listings for Old Peculier, alcohol-free Nowt Peculier and Salted Caramel Porter.
Theakston’s Brewery has almost 200 years of brewing experience.
